Naraku was born to a small community in the Gluttony Circle. His people worshipped a great deity which they called Gaia. To them she was an age-old being whose tales dated back to prehistoric times. She was their creator, their life-giver, and they practiced the teachings she supposedly told. One practice was that love for one another was true. Thus most of the people were inbred spawn. Naraku was no different.

There was speculation as to who their deity really was, as some of the villagers had the features of creatures that were long since extinct. Through each generation, they became more and more humanoid, keeping their purity, and leaving behind their vanity. Naraku on the other hand, wished to know why it was he looked the way he did. So curious he was that he stood before the alter to speak to Gaia, unknowingly becoming a ritual sacrifice.

As he lay there within the temple, bleeding and dying, Naraku heard an elegant Voice within his ear. Gasping for air, he turned his golden eyes toward the shadowed form of a woman adorned with flowers. He believed and still believes to this day that it is his deity, Gaia. She spoke to him so lovingly, telling him that his sacrifice had moved her heart. And so in return she gave herself to Naraku. The young boy and the deity became one. And through their union, their purpose became clear. She so kindly asked her child to preach her words to a village that was slowly losing its faith. He would bring all the descendants of Gaia together as one. All will become one with everything.

His birthparents were the first to go. The young boy devoured them while they slept, believing that he was taking their essence into his own being. Naraku then heard the voices of his parents praising him for enlightening them and bringing them together as a real family. Naraku would then go out into the community, preaching the word of Gaia. That their blasphemy would be forgiven should they chose to become one with the rest. He was overjoyed as he ran rampant through the village. With each person devoured, another voice was added to his mind. So grateful they were to finally become connected to their Goddess through him. Naraku was saving his people.

Despite his mind telling him that he was doing good, there were many who resisted. Eventually, Naraku was overtaken and thrown into a small tomb where he was to be imprisoned for the rest of his life. But word spread about The Carnivore and how he was connecting people directly to Gaia herself. This began to intrigue others and eventually the people revolted for him to be freed. The village leaders however could not come to terms with how to handle the young man. During Naraku’s apprehension, it was revealed that he could take on the form of the Dark King. A sacred, taboo beast with a connection to Gaia in the old stories told. It only raised further questions about his actions. 

Unable to contain the hysteria for long, the Village leaders decided it would be best to simply exile Naraku. Those who wished to follow, could. They bound him arms and legs and left him on the forest floor. He would be unable to break free of these shackles, and thus would never be able to return to his home. While other homes were readily available in the Gluttony Circle, Naraku found himself traversing throughout the realm. His followers having long since been devoured and brought into his own personal world. His goal now was to return everything back to Gaia. After all, to him, she was their creator. She deserved to have anything she asked him for.

He eventually found himself in the Violence Circle after centuries of wandering, devouring and adding more screaming Voices to his mind. Sadly, while he wanted nothing more than to please Gaia, he had to appease the others as well lest they continue to wail. And so Naraku does as they all command. If they desire someone or something, Naraku will obey.
